That was the point. Apples and Oranges here, I'm afraid. <br /><br />I'm not sure about the longer term, but I'm pretty sure that, over the last 15 years or so, on-trade beer prices have tracked average earnings - rising faster than general inflation, but holding "affordability". At the same time, brewery gate prices (ex-duty) have risen closer to inflation. It's a function of the way breweries (have tended to) do their price rises - A "cost of living" increase, and another adjustment for duty changes.<br /><br />You're right though, this has allowed the pubcos to bump up their prices even with declining demand for their product.
