Into the top 50!

I've just noticed that this blog has jumped 23 places in the beer blog Hit Parade to 49: this is my highest position ever. However, I'm not going to get too smug, because my last big jump was a massive 46 places to 55 in January this year, which was immediately followed by a slightly less massive drop of 31 places in February. The blog rankings giveth, and the blog rankings taketh away ...

I've never made any appearance in the Hot 100 music blogs, but I can understand that because my music element is mostly, though not exclusively, slanted to music events where you can get real ale. I'm also not committed to a single type of music, unlike most of the other music blogs I've looked at, although folk and acoustic inevitably feature prominently, being the kind of music I'm mainly involved in.

My prediction is that next time I'll drop to 74, but we'll see in September how my Mystic Meg tribute act works out. It's a good job I don't take these things too seriously since I have previously seen my place in the rankings drop even though the number of visitors to the blog had increased.

Blog rankings ~ can't make any sense of them

In December 2010, ReARM sprang into the top 100 beer and wine blogs at 60, which I was pleased about at the time.  After that there was a slow decline in this blog's position until a few months ago when it ended at around 103.  There was a brief rally to 97, followed by dropping out of the top 100 again.  So I decided to stop looking - until I looked again, of course, when I was amazed to see it's leapt back in at 55, the highest position ever. 

Frankly, I can't make any sense of these rankings.  They're not based on the number of hits, because in 2011 I had nearly double the number than in 2010, yet my position in the top 100 declined throughout the year.  No doubt history will repeat itself and ReARM will slide down the charts again during the course of this year.  If you want to follow my position, it's given on the badge at the bottom of the column on the right, and it changes monthly.  To see the whole top 100 blogs, click here or on that badge.  Some of them are worth your time; there's a couple I don't like, but I'm not saying which.

Number 60 in the top 100!

I've received an e-mail from Wikio News saying that this blog has entered the Wikio UK Rankings. I've jumped straight in at 60 in the top 100 of wine and beer blogs. I'm quite surprised because I didn't think my little local blog about beer and music, mostly around the area where I live, would ever be on their radar. It's you who read ReARM who have done this ~ thanks very much.

The rankings are updated every month, so now I'm going to be on tenterhooks: will I go up or down? Or will I even drop out altogether and just be a one hit wonder?

I'm ridiculously pleased with this, I suppose, seeing that my friend Tandleman is at number 7. Perhaps I need a "Kind Hearts And Coronets" approach to climbing this greasy pole!
