The 1st Beer, Pie and Sausage Festival last year

One of the more unusual local beer festivals begins tomorrow: the Ship Beer, Pie and Sausage Festival at the Ship ("Blood Tub") in Lathom, near Burscough. It's a picturesque canalside pub. There will be at least 35 handpulled beers and 15 ciders from across the country in a beer tent erected just for the festival. There will also be a range of specially prepared pies and some fine local sausages. At some point Dave Sharp, guitarist with The Alarm, will be performing, as will Mancunian Darren Poyzer.
