Instrumental tunes welcome too |
But the Bothy itself carries on: every Sunday night we'll be running a free acoustic song sessions in the same venue from 28 July until 1 September, i.e the next 6 weeks. It's free, and performing is not compulsory. Some people find the informal approach much less intimidating than a normal club night. If you're a nervous performer who nevertheless fancies having a go, these sessions might be just the thing for you. If you don't play an instrument, don't worry: you definitely won't be the only unaccompanied singer.
These singarounds will be at the Park Golf Club, Park Road West, Southport, PR9 0JS, beginning at 8.00pm. The venue serves cask Thwaites Wainwright.
Hi Neville,
ReplyDeleteI've spoken to you a couple of times when I was deputy manager at Sir Henry Segrave and remembered your fondness for live music, so thought this may be of interest. I'm manager at The Sandgrounder now and we launched an open mic night 3 weeks ago. It runs on a Wednesday evening from 8pm and includes a set by a local artist at 9pm, with open mic before and after. There's more details on our Facebook page, and below is a link to a photo from last night. It will take a while to grow, but has already been quite popular! There's always 2 real ales on too, usually from Southport brewery, Burscough brewing, Allgates brewery or Peerless, but we have just had delivered some beers from Old School brewery to give them a go. All at a very reasonable £2.00 a pint if you sign up for one of our free Privilege cards! Hope this is of interest, if you wish to get in touch via e-mail my address is johnfahey@burningnightgroup.com. Thanks
