The Downtrodden String Band consists of four musicians who all have long experience of playing acoustic music of all kinds. They first came together to provide music for an Appalachian dance group based in Bakewell in Derbyshire. They have moved from there to playing concerts, barn dances and festivals all around central England. Their line-up consists of mandolin, banjo and guitar resulting in a distinctive, driving style, and most of their songs feature 3- or 4-part harmony.
